Tremors is Getting its Own TV Series… and Kevin Bacon is Returning.

Tremors is one of the more unrated and fun movies of the 1990s. It became a pretty solid franchise considering the first movie didn’t perform very well at the box office. The franchise revolves around a bunch of underground worms that attack a town in the desert. Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward starred in the original film but Bacon didn’t stick around for the following movies. There has been 5 films in the franchise and I think Michael Gross (the dad from Family Ties) is the only constant member of the cast. The most recent movie came out in 2015 (it was straight to DVD) and there was already a 13 episode show starring Gross back in the early 2000s.

Sy-Fy is attempting to get a TV show going again and this time Kevin Bacon has decided to come back. Bacon was supposedly ashamed of the movie while filming but a large cult following must have brought him around. The show is expected to take place 25 years after the original movie with Bacon returning to the town in order to save it from the famous worms. There has been no word on whether Michael Gross and Fred Ward will come back but I think its safe to say that Michael Gross will find his way in somehow.

If you’ve never seen Tremors the first two movies are absolutely worth your time. I think you may be able to catch some of the recent entries on Netflix and I’ve seen the original movie on cable a handful of times.

Are you familiar with Tremors? Are you looking forward to this show?

A type of pacific islander, they have a history of being brutal warriors. I watch both shows because I absolutely fucking love zombies, ever have since I was a kid and saw night of the living dead. The wussy TV style writing is a big drawback though, nowhere near enough zombies or zombie killing!

  • Mr. Perfect

    He’s a what?
I gave that show two chances. I thought both the writing and acting sucked. It’s just a cheap way to milk Walking Dead.

  • Jerry Eldini

Yeah, it was ridiculous though. They revealed that he was actually a Maory and then killed him off. The writing on that show kinda sucks monkey ass just a little bit.

  • Mr. Perfect

They killed him off? Ha. I just might give the show a third chance!

  • Mr. Perfect

That and Bernie Madoff screwed him up. His career was slow because he was about to retire.

  • Mr. Perfect

Will the guy from Family Ties be there too?

  • UilickMcGee

    Elephant gun or GTFO.

  • Jerry Eldini

It will be good as long as the producers don’t come up with some pussy anti-gun bullshit and have our hero Mr. Bacon trying to kill those gigantic worms with a fucking slingshot or a spatula or some other non firearm. Fear The Walking Dead try to pull that shit about a lead character not wanting to use a gun and in the last couple of episodes finally realized that he needed to be killed off! Good riddance! Lock and load mudfuckers!

The tremor franchise is a really funny franchise so perhaps I’ll watch the new tv series (I never saw the original tv series, the one that came after the third movie, though so I will probably watch that first)

  • I’m looking forward to this.

  • Andorian Soup

Oh nice! I love the first 3 films, 4 was entertaining enough too. The original TV series I only caught a hint of. But didn’t they redesign the worms for that last film? Or was it just bad CG? Either way, they need to put that behind them. Bring back the prosthetic worms!!

The first movie is a true classic. And I’m sure Kevin will be in the show considering his career has been so slow the past decade.
