Anime Openings #1: Three Epic Action Anime openings

Anime openings are sometimes as interesting as the animes themselves and a lot of times watching an opening can get people to watch the anime. As such I thought that aside from giving my opinion about anime in the form of review or just talk about manga and anime in articles (which I will still do) I would also show you some of the really cool openings I’ve come across during my years watching anime.

For this first entry I’ve chosen three action anime series I like a lot, the first three action animes I ever watched and which I consider to be epic.

Cowboy Bebop:

Artist: Yoko Kano (composer) played by “Seatbelts”

Plot Summary (IMDB): “Spike Spiegel is a bounty hunter in the far future with an easy-going attitude and some deadly skill at martial arts. Together with his partners, Jet Black, and later Faye Valentine as well, they go from job to job across the galaxy looking for the high-priced fugitives to bag.”

Artist: Tsuneo Imahori

Video uploaded to YouTube by Cristian Cortes

Plot Summary (IMDB): “Trigun takes place in the distant future on a deserted planet. Vash the Stampede is a gunfighter with a legend so ruthless that he has a $$60,000,000,000 bounty on his head. Entire towns evacuate at the rumor of his arrival. However, the real Vash the Stampede is not the same man who rumor portrays him to be. The enigmatic and conflicted lead character in Trigun is actually more heroic in nature; as well as a complete and utter idiot at times.”

City Hunter

“Running to Horizon” (City Hunter 3 op)

Artist: Tetsuya Komuro

Video uploaded to YouTube by Segarosso.

Plot Summary “Wikipedia”: “The series follows the exploits of Ryo Saeba, a “sweeper” who is always found chasing beautiful girls and a private detective who works to rid Tokyo of crime, along with his associate or partner, Hideyuki Makimura. Their “City Hunter” business is an underground jack-of-all-trades operation, contacted by writing the letters “XYZ” on a blackboard at Shinjuku Station. One day, Hideyuki is murdered, and Ryo must take care of Hideyuki’s sister, Kaori, a tomboy who becomes his new partner in the process. However, Kaori is very susceptible and jealous, often hitting Ryo with a giant hammer when he does something perverted. The story also follows the behind-the-scenes romance between Ryo and Kaori and the way they cooperate throughout each mission.”
