Mark Hamill Took Inspiration From Alec Guinness For The Last Jedi

Mark Hamill will be making his long awaited return to Star Wars this December in The Last Jedi and Hamill has already talked a lot about his opinions on Luke Skywalker’s current motivations in the new trilogy. He has now revealed that he drew inspiration from another famous Jedi. Alec Guinness, the original version of Obi Wan Kenobi.

Guinness and Hamill obviously worked together a lot on the set of the first Star Wars and then sporadically in the next two movies. He told Yahoo how Guinness’ Obi Wan helped him build his performance

I channeled his dignity and his composure. But Obi-Wan has a much different backstory than Luke, so although there are many similarities, you have to really sort of take ownership of your own character.

Luke and Obi Wan had two very different paths to become Jedi but Mark drawing inspiration from his former co-star still makes a lot of sense. I still have my fingers crossed that Obi Wan will actually appear in The Last Jedi.

Do you think its a smart movie to channel Obi Wan? What are you expectations for Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi?
