Matt Groening Show Picked Up By Netflix

Matt Groening has made a pretty solid career in television. He is most known as the creator of The Simpsons and then later Futurama and now Groening’s latest project Disenchantment has just been picked up by Netflix.

Disenchantment will follow a trio of characters, a drunken princess, a elf and a demon as they confront a wide assortment of other creatures. Netflix picked up the show for a 20 episode first season (which is rare for Netflix) but the season will be released in two parts with 10 episodes each. The show is expecting to be released at some point in 2018.

John DiMaggio, Billy West and some other Futurama alumni will lend their voices to this series. Futurama was cancelled for the second time in 2013. The Simpsons will start season 29 this fall.

Are you looking forward Groening’s new show? Or are you sick of The Simpsons and Futurama?

It involves doing something with your mouth during a certain “period”, and it has nothing to do with hockey. Maybe it’s only a thing up here in the frozen north, we have to invent weird stuff to do during the 17 months of winter we get each year.

He has a good imagination that is for sure. Not sure how funny he is anymore…..I don’t know how much writing he does he pretty much just collects checks and lets writers do all the work.

I have know idea what that means.

No red wings for you then!

I don’t think it will last as long as The Simpsons has But we shall see.

Futurama had some pretty good episodes, but they played it to death (and continue to do so). The Simpsons hit its peak with seasons 3-9, then slowly slipped further and further from the public zeitgeist.

Maybe Groening has one more winner up his sleeve…
