It’s official GnR have turned into pussies. The band is rereleasing an expanded version of their debut album Appetite For Destruction. This will include unreleased tracks and demo versions of the songs. But it won’t be including one song originally on the album. The song One In A Million was cut out due to controversial lyrics:

Police and niggers, that’s right

Get outta my way

Don’t need to buy none of your

Gold chains today

Now don’t need no bracelets

Clamped in front of my back

Just need my ticket ’till then

Won’t you cut me some slack

Immigrants and fagots

They make no sense to me

They come to our country

And think they’ll do as they please

Like start some mini-Iran

Or spread some fucking disease

And they talk so many God damn ways

It’s all Greek to me

Band leader and lyricist Axl Rose originally had this to say when defending his word choice

“Why can black people go up to each other and say, “N*****,” but when a white guy does it all of a sudden it’s a big put-down. I don’t like boundaries of any kind. I don’t like being told what I can and what I can’t say.”

In his final public comments about One In A Million in 1992, Rose stated: “It was a way for me to express my anger at how vulnerable I felt in certain situations that had gone down in my life.”

How do you feel about the band removing the song? Are they doing the right thing? Or merely bending over?
