Quentin Tarantino’s 9th film is starting to develop a cast that could be considered legendary. Its now been announced that Al Pacino has joined the film. Pacino will be playing the agent for Leonardo DiCaprio’s character who is supposedly an actor. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is going to focus on 1969. The Manson murders are believed to be at least a component of this story.
Pacino recently teamed up with Martin Scorsese for The Irishman which is going to land on Netflix in 2019 and it could be possible he could be set for a career revival now that he’s also working with Tarantino for the first time. The last decade or so hasn’t been kind to him, much like Robert de Niro. With the exception of a few solid movies most of Pacino’s performances lately haven’t been memorable.
Pacino joins a long list of recognizable faces. Here are some others that are included in this film.
- Leonardo Dicaprio
- Brad Pitt
- Margot Robbie (believed to be playing Roman Polanski’s murdered wife Sharon Tate, who was killed by the Manson family)
- Burt Reynolds
- Timothy Olyphant
- Damian Lewis (playing Steve McQueen)
- Luke Perry
- Emile Hirsch
- Dakota Fanning
Here is a rough synopsis.
The pic takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), the former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double, Cliff Booth (Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they no longer recognize. But Dalton has a very famous next-door neighbor … Sharon Tate.
The film will be released on August 9th of next year. Which just so happens to be the 50th anniversary of the death of Sharron Tate.
