I find more often that not when an artist breaks away from their main band to pursue their own solo career it doesn’t always live up to the quality that we’ve seen from other bands. Still, the power to be entirely in control of the music you make would be more than appetizing for some. You can take a larger percent of the cut too.
Lots of famous artists eventually broke away from their main band and had a lot of success as solo artists. Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Ozzy Osbourne, David Lee Roth, Robert Plant, Paul Simon, Sting, Rod Stewart, Neil Young, Chris Cornell, Lionel Ritchie, John Fogerty and of course Nick Jonas have all had success on their own after they left their main group.
One of the more recent solo albums that I’ve picked up lately. He’s not exactly the most well known artist in the world, but he’s had some success in the band Alter Bridge and he’s the front man of Slash’s solo band. He’s mostly had a career in hard rock, but this album is more of an acoustic album that a lot more low key. Its called Year of the Tiger which was a concept album.
What artists solo career did you really enjoy after they left their main band?
