Kevin Smith Announces New Show Hollyweed

I tend to follow the career of Kevin Smith very closely. I know looking back that many people don’t consider his projects to be that good, but he pretty much gets a lifetime free pass with me because he made some of my favorite movies in the mid 90s. Most of his movies from the last 5-6 years haven’t been great. I haven’t liked one of his films since Zack and Miri Make a Porno.

Smith is currently working on a sequel to Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. I’m pretty sure it’ll start filming this year. Working on sequels to Mallrats and Clerks ended up falling through for two different reasons. Now on Instagram its been announced that Smith has a new show in the works.

Smith describes his new show Hollyweed as “Clerks in a weed store”. Probably not the most fresh concept in the world, but I’m cool with it. He goes back to the Clerks well a lot, recently with Yoga Hosers. Apparently the pilot for Hollyweed was shot more than 2 years and took this long to find a home (which wasn’t mentioned). It wasn’t said if Smith would be doing any more episodes of the show either. He probably just got high and posted it online. The post claimed that he would reveal more about where you can watch soon.

Kevin Smith had a heart attack after filming a comedy special earlier this year. He’s now lost a lot of weight. The special aired on Showtime a few months back. I caught it on the streaming service CraveTV last month.
