What Music Was Your “Gateway Drug”?

Musical tastes can be funny, the stuff you liked when you were young may not really be the type of music that you like to listen to know. I like to think my taste in music gets better every day because we live in a world where its a lot easier to discover talented artists.

I want to know what artists started your interest in music.

When I was a kid I was mostly attracted to whatever my dad listened too. I live in a town where there are only about 5 radio stations available and the majority of them were modern country stations. So country acts from the late 90s and early 2000s were mostly what I was interested in. Brooks and Dunn, Alan Jackson, even Shania Twain was pretty popular at the time because I’m Canadian and you can’t help but like Shania Twain because at that time she was every where.

I’m still mostly a rock/hard rock fan and a lot of that came from 3 bands my dad liked. AC/DC, Def Leppard and Bon Jovi. He also played quite a bit of The Beatles which I liked a lot when I was a little kid and then gained more interest in again when I got a little older. Now my taste has blossomed into a lot of different artists, but that list is mostly what launched my interest in music.
