Deep Cuts: Covers

Every now and then a new artist can take someone else’s work and bring some new life to it. Most cover songs don’t really stand the test of time, especially if they are already a massively popular song, but every now and then you see a cover that actually improves on the quality of the original. Although I hate it when people pick the most obvious songs to cover for an album. Anyone who covers Hallelujah can go fuck themselves. Here are a few of my favorite covers. I tried to pick some of the less obvious ones.

Headstones: Tweeter and the Monkey Man (Traveling Wilburys)

The White Stripes: I Just Don’t Know What to Do With Myself (Bob Dylan)

The Replacements: Black Diamond (KISS)

Soundgarden: Into the Void (lyrics changed)(Black Sabbath)

Creedence Clearwater Revival: Cotton Fields (Lead Belly)

Weedeater: Gimme Back My Bullets (Lynyrd Skynyrd)

Aerosmith: Big Ten Inch Record (Bullmoose Jackson)
