- Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Seth Rollins (Universal championship)
The WWE has made sure to make sure we, the audience, all understand that Seth Rollins is injured. This points to two possible things:
- When Seth Rollins wins, it will seem all the more impressive, because of the injuries.
- When Brock Lesnar wins, it won’t take any of the push away from Rollins because of the injuries, so they can keep the feud going until at least the Survivor Series in November.
Personally, I think option #2 is the most likely. Brock Lesnar retains.
- Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Randy Orton (WWE championship)
Wait…Randy Orton is in the title picture again? I have enjoyed Kofi’s run since Wrestlemania…but it ends this Sunday. Having Orton, who has been serving as enhancement talent for the last few years be back in the title scene tells me that this is it. They are giving Orton one last title run before he hangs up his boots for good. Randy Orton wins. It won’t be a long title reign, maybe even only lasting for a month or two…but this way they can put the belt on another face without having to turn Kofi heel or anything.
- Kevin Owens vs. Shane McMahon
Owens has said that he will quit if he cannot win this match. They’ve worked that in as a stipulation.
And because they have worked that in as a stipulation, it pretty much means one thing: Shane McMahon wins. This stipulation is entirely kayfabe, Owens isn’t going anywhere even if he loses. I predict that once he loses, Owens will just show up to both RAW and Smackdown, wreaking havoc.
- Becky Lynch (c) vs. Natalya (Raw women’s championship)
Natalya won a Fatal 4-Way elimination match to become top contender. They’ve tried to make it intensely personal since then.
Confession: Nattie is my favorite female wrestler. I’ve met her, she is super sweet, and my gawd…I want to motorboat her so bad…but she isn’t winning this match. Becky Lynch isn’t gonna drop that belt to anyone not named Charlotte Flair, or if I had my way, Asuka.
- Bayley (c) vs. Ember Moon (SmackDown women’s championship)
Ember Moon has been slowly earning her way to this moment…so, the only question is, how to they book this? I have a strong suspicion that Sasha Banks will be making her return during this match…screwing Ember Moon. Bayley retains.
- Trish Stratus vs. Charlotte Flair
Charlotte Flair is the 2nd best female wrestler on the entire roster, behind Asuka. There is no way in hell she loses to Trish.
- AJ Styles vs. Ricochet (U.S. championship)
I like Ricochet a lot, but until he has a match with AJ Styles where the O.C. is banned from ringside, a cage match, a Hell in a Cell, or something where they can’t interfere, they are just going to keep interfering. AJ Styles retains.
- Dolph Ziggler vs. Goldberg
This match was scheduled to be Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz, but on RAW last night, it appears it’s been rebooked to be Dolph vs. Goldberg. Squash match, because the only way Goldberg is coming back for a match against a mid-carder like Ziggler is if he gets to just dominate him, and collect an easy paycheck.
- Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt
They have been slow-burning Bray’s return for months, and Balor has nothing interesting going on. Bray wins.
- Roman Reigns vs. ???
I am gonna be shocked if the mystery opponent here isn’t Daniel Bryan. The fact that we are 5 days away from Summerslam, and he isn’t involved in a match yet, AND what has been happening to Reigns perfectly fits within the “New” Daniel Bryan’s character, it just makes sense. But, Roman Reigns wins, because Vince doesn’t let him lose to anyone not named Brock Lesnar…
