Now that Disney has acquired Fox they have decided to cut the name Fox and rebrand their purchase. The studio will now be called 20th Century Studios, and the Fox Searchlight brand that was home to Fox’s indie movies will be shortened to just Searchlight Pictures.
This move sort of makes sense since Disney’s purchase of Fox didn’t include Fox News so they’ll no longer be under the same umbrella. I’m sure the Fox News republican history is also something Disney’s “family friendly” image is hoping to distance itself from, as if they aren’t as crooked as every other company on Earth if not more so.
Anyway, looks like Fox movies are no more. This is sort of a surprising move, but I’d guess 20th Century Studios will be the home for Disney’s more “adult oriented” projects much like Touchstone used to be.
