Emilio Estevez Returning for Mighty Ducks Series

The Disney Mighty Ducks are getting a revival for Disney+. I’ve seen the first one many times and the second one was pretty good if I remember correctly. Hardly remember the third one at all. The franchise had the 3 movies and an animated series as well. The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim were actually owned by Disney when they entered the NHL, but when Disney sold them they shortened their name to the Anaheim Ducks.

Emilio Estevez was the top billed star of all 3 of the films in the Mighty Ducks trilogy (although his role in the third movie was simply a cameo) and it seems that he will actually return as Gordon Bombay for the series. Bombay was of course the lawyer who becomes a coach for a hockey team when he is assigned community service. The report has also said that the Estevez’s role in the show will be big. It will not be a cameo.

Estevez’s work in the film industry has mostly been as a director. He’s only physically appeared in 2 movies in the past decade, both were directed by himself.

Did you watch the Mighty Ducks movies as a kid?
