Movie producer Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 23 years in prison for his first and third degree sexual assaults.
Weinstein could’ve been sentenced to as little as 5 years or as long as 29, so 23 is the final tally. 20 years for the first degree charge and 3 years for the third degree. Weinstein is 67 years old now. He was acquitted on two other charges that would’ve come with a life sentence.
Weinstein actually showed some remorse in a statement.
“I really feel remorse for this situation. I feel it deeply in my heart. I will spend my time really caring and really trying to be a better person.”
“I’m not going to say that these aren’t great people,” he also said of his accusers. “I’ve had wonderful times with these people.”
Weinstein has experienced some health issues lately including getting a stent put in his heart.
