Taika Waititi Officially Onboard For A Star Wars Film

Its not very often that May the 4th brings us some honestly exciting Star Wars news. First off Rise of Skywalker is on Disney+ and now we’ve got some confirmation on some earlier rumored Star Wars stories.

Taika Waititi, director of Jojo Rabbit and Thor: Ragnarok is now officially announced as a director (and co-writer) of a Star Wars film. It was reported quite a while that Waititi had discussions with Lucasfilm about a Star Wars project and he already directed an episode of The Mandalorian. Joining him with be screenwriter Krysty Wilson-Cairns, writer of 1917 and Edgar Wrights upcoming movie Last Night in Soho. There is no word on when this project will be released or whether it will feature known characters.

Accompanying this news was another announcement of a new Disney+ series. This show will be helmed by Leslye Headland, who will be the show’s showrunner. She is a co-creator of the Netflix series Russian Doll.
