Deep Cut of the Day

Its very rare that I listen to a hip hop album, but one of my 2-3 favorites is Public Enemy’s It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back. Its the hip hop group’s second album, released in 1988.

Public Enemy is known for its politically charged lyrics and the peak of that would come with their next album and their hit single Fight the Power. It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back contains the fan favorites Bring the Noise and Don’t Believe the Hype.

Today’s deep cut of the day is She Watch Channel Zero?!

The most memorable element of this song is that it uses Slayer’s Angel of Death as a sample. If you’re familiar with the song you’ll recognize the sample instantly.

It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back sold one million copies in the US, and it considered among the groups most influential releases.
